Design Your Recovery

“While other professions are concerned with changing the environment to suit the weakened body, chiropractic is concerned with strengthening the body to suit the environment.”

-BJ Palmer, Developer of chiropractic.

The healing process involves a lot of steps. Making calls, setting appointments, getting help. You can probably remember yourself at that point, or can think of a friend or loved one facing it now. Next, there is finding out what is the problem (and what caused it), and what you need to change to get better.

On the other hand, the healing process is also really simple. Most of the time, you don’t even have to think about it. Your body takes care of all of it (or nearly all) without you even having to think about it. Just running in the background, like an app or software that doesn’t require any monitoring.

Most of the stress you cause to your body, your body just effortlessly handles all by itself. At least it seems effortless. Of course repair takes effort and energy from your body’s reserves – but the point is what it doesn’t take.

Conscious effort. Your body simply runs on auto-pilot. The rest of the time?

When your brain has to get actively involved, that is where trouble can start. So many decisions – what to change, what habits do you need to start (or stop), do you need to eat differently, get a special workout, stretching etc etc. And the biggest question of who do you need help from.

What if you could design your own recovery? What would it look like?

First of all, the kind of healing we experience most is what you would most want to take advantage of. In other words, to maximize your conscious-effort free healing.

Fortunately, chiropractic was designed for just this purpose, if you read the writing of its founders. The purpose of maximizing your strength and resistance to the stress around you – both physical and mental – not to mention the constantly increasing toxic stew of our modern lifestyle.

So while chiropractors are great at laying out a simple, stress free plan of how often and when to get help, what to do at home, and what to focus on avoiding (to keep from further hurting yourself), the most important thing you can get – the blessing of stress-free resilience and recovery…

…was precisely what chiropractic was designed to achieve.
